What will schools need to look like in 2035 to ensure every child can achieve and thrive?

Education in England is entering a period of reform, with the government’s recent White Paper setting out a bold vision for inclusion, higher standards and a broader approach to childhood that extends beyond the school gates. As expectations grow around mainstream SEND provision, attendance, curriculum breadth, enrichment and AI readiness, schools and trusts are being asked to deliver transformational change amid workforce pressures and widening disadvantage gaps. System leaders must now interpret national policy, strengthen community partnerships and embed sustainable reform that balances excellence with inclusion.

The Institute of Government & Public Policy is proud to present The Future of Schools Conference and Exhibition 2026, which will bring together senior leaders from schools, trusts, local authorities and government to examine how education must evolve to meet the challenges of the next decade. This conference will explore mainstream inclusion, curriculum innovation, attendance and engagement, schools as community anchors, and preparing pupils for an AI-driven future.
