Spanish Galicia Symphony Orchestra

Bristol Beacon, Trenchard St, Bristol, BS1 5AR

Description

It is many years since we’ve had a visit from a leading Spanish orchestra and we’re therefore delighted to present the Spanish Galicia Symphony Orchestra (Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia) conducted by one of Spain’s most exciting young musicians, Roberto González-Monjas.

Three scintillating dances from Falla’s ballet The Three-Cornered Hat start the programme, before probably the most popular piece of Spanish classical music ever composed – Rodrigo’s Guitar Concierto de Aranjuez – is performed by Franco-Spanish guitarist Thibaut Garcia, one of the most gifted guitarists of his generation.

Ravel’s charming Mother Goose Suite is followed by Turina’s atmospheric Sinfonía Sevillana before the concert ends in a blaze of Spanish drama with Ravel’s most famous work, his Boléro.
